車臣軍頭烏馬洛夫是俄羅斯的首要通緝對象之一，曾經揚言在索契冬運期間作案，並自稱策畫俄國境內近年來幾次最重大的恐怖攻擊。其為首的伊斯蘭激進組織「高加索酋長國」十八日發表一項聲明指出，烏馬洛夫已經「殉難」，得年四十九歲。聲明並未透露他的死因。（英國衛報19日電）
